Cerium Iodide
Cerium iodide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CeI3. Cerium iodide is a yellow powder or polycrystalline block in appearance. It is easy to dissolve in water and acid, and it is easy to absorb moisture. Therefore, it should be kept in an airtight condition.
Cerium Iodide Applications
Cerium iodide can be used to prepare lutetium iodide, gadolinium iodide, and yttrium iodide scintillation crystals. Cerium doped lutetium iodide (LuI3: Ce3 +), gadolinium iodide (GdI3: Ce3 +) and yttrium iodide (YI3: Ce3 +) crystals are all excellent scintillators.
