Praseodymium (III) Fluoride
Praseodymium (III) Fluoride (PrF3), also called praseodymium trifluoride, is a green crystalline solid and slightly soluble in water. Praseodymium Fluoride is the main raw material for making Praseodymium Metal and is also applied in color glasses and enamels. When mixed with certain other materials, Praseodymium produces an intense clean yellow color in the glass. Praseodymium is present in the rare earth mixture whose fluoride forms the core of carbon arc lights which are used in the motion picture industry for studio lighting and projector lights. Doping Praseodymium in Fluoride glass allows it to be used as a single-mode fiber optical amplifier.
Praseodymium Fluoride Applications
Praseodymium trifluoride can be used in:
1. Making praseodymium metal
2. Rare earth permanent magnet alloy
3. Color glasses and enamels
